UNESCO in Lebanon

UNESCO will assist the Lebanese government in the field of education by providing direct assistance with vocational education and children traumatized by recent events. In addition, UNESCO will help preserve Lebanon's cultural heritage. Director-General Ko chiro Matsuura stated that UNESCO will provide all possible assistance to constructive reconstruction in Lebanon in the areas of education and culture. UNESCO will also assist the Lebanese authorities in a long-term reconstruction planning in these areas, starting in January 2007.
